And aawwwaaaayyyyy we go! Why not jump into this in the middle of the month? Our first paintout will be Baltimore. You'll find a pic above of the area in which you can choose something to paint. The link below will take you to Google Maps of that area, you can then drag the little Yellow Man onto the map and start exploring. Find an interesting subject/area. Change it all you want. Or paint it straight up as you see it. Instructions are in the sidebar to the right. Any questions, ask 'em here. HAVE FUN!

This looks like so much fun, Bill! I really want to give it a go. I spent some time searching around Baltimore and found some neat sights and compositions (even one evening shot--wish I'd saved it!)I posted a link over in the pastel forum, so maybe you'll get some others to join in. Hope so!

Oh, and your painting looks fresh and juicy to me, not messy. I like that I can paint something finished or just work on sketches and quickies. Great idea. :-)

Hi Deborah. Glad you're here. The whole point is to have fun and explore places (virtually) that you might not have had a chance to in person.

Thanks for spreading the word!

What a fun idea for when I want to paint at night or when it's cold outside.
I'll give it a try. Be back later.

Hi Ralph, I love your palette knife work and this 'new" to me anyways, idea of painting. I've never been interested in painting from a photo but seeing what you accomplished has sparked some interest.

Hi Susan. Bill here. Ralph painted the one entitled, "Water Taxis". I don't think he used a knife, although I did use a knife on the one entitled "Recession".

You are more than welcome to join us. We've still got almost a week to go in Baltimore.

I received an email from Susan Cox, who had some trouble with blogger comments I assume, so she sent the message to me. I'm re-posting here...

What a terrific idea, Bill! I want to paint Baltimore if I'm not too late. Home to one of my favorite authors, Anne Tyler. I'm a map nut and love google earth so...I'll see you in Baltimore! Susan Cox
